At approximately 3:00 pm MST, on October 29., 1987, a severe thunderstorm struck the Palo Verde site. The storm blew down one source of offsite power, rendering tbat source a

' inoperable. However, four other sources of offsite power were still intact. Twenty-six N of thirty-nine emergency sirens in Maricopa C0unty were knocked out and the. licensee l made an ENS notification concerning this. The Unit 1 fuel building door was damaged and i two individuals standing near it were Linjured. They were not contaminated and were .l taken offsite for treatment. Although Unit I was in Mode 6, they had yet to commence ,,

4 moving fuel. The fuel building door has been repaired. The wind was clocked at a nearby ,1.oca tion . as high as 86 mph. j L, ., ,-
