Dear Congressman Conte,

I would like to call to your attention the fact that a very old and technologically outdated Nuclear Power Station at Rowe, Vt. on the Massachusetts border is about to re-open after almost a year of repairs.

This dangerous facility is by air only 30 or 40 miles from many of the residents that you represent. A nuclear catasphrophe at Powe would like in Chernoble; cause acute and longterm public health risks to all of the people in the Pioneer Valley. I would urge you through whatever channels are available to you to prevent the re-opening of Rowe and to work for the permanent closure of all nuclear power plants. In particular I 4fope you will help prevent the startup of the reactor at Rowe which is long outdated and paces a particular hazard to your family as well as mine. I cm quite sure that you would find that public opinion is squarely on the side of closing such plants following the graphic demonstration at Chernoble and +ne reality that tens of thousands of Russians will someday die from the secondary cancers caused by being unfortunate enough to live near a Nuclear reactor. Thank you for your concern.

r Sincerely,
