The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by Region V staff on this date.

REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SEAL REPLACEMENT (0UTAGE GREATER THAN 48 HOURS)

The licensee initiated a shutdown from 30% power on July 1, 1986, as a result of increased s esal leakage from the 2B Reactor Coolant Pump. The licensee plans to maintain the unit in cold shutdown for the purpose of replacing reactor coolant pump seals which have progressively deteriorated during the course of plant testing. Initially, seals will be raplaced on the 2A and 2B pumps. Possible replacement of a third pump seal is being evaluated. The outage.is expected to last approximately 8-12-days after which power ccesnsion testing at the 50% power plateau will be resumed.
