The Ohio State University Engineering Experiment Station v 142 Hitchcock Hall 2070 Neil Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43210 Phone 614 422-2411 April 30, 1986 Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington D.C. 20555

Dear Sir:

The Ohio State University Research Reactor license (License No.

R-75 Docket No. 50-150) was amended January 15, 1976 by Amend-ment #7 to reduce the amount of U-235 to 4.6 Kilograms for use in connection with its operation. This reduction was the direct result of our removal and shipment of a fission plate assembly containing about 4.4 kilograms of U-235. When the amendment was approved, however, the original license alloca-tion of up to 8.0 kilograms of U-235 was not deleted. This leaves a discrepency in the current license. Section 2B allows 4.6 kilograms and Section 4 allows 8 kilograms of U-235. He propose that Section 4 be deleted.

Since this is an amendment request that is designed to correct a previous administrative error, there are no safety implica-tions and therefore this proposed change does not constitute an unreviewed safety question.

If you have any questions on this request please contact Mr.

Richard D. Myser at (614) 422-6755.

Sincerely, b wr54-Robert F. Redmond, Director RFR/kje
