UNIT 1 Enclosed is 1.icensee Event Report 97-041-00 for Point Beach Nuclear Plant. Unit 1. This report is provided in accordance with 10 CFR 50.73(a)(2)(ii)(B),"a condition that was outside the design basis of the plant." This report describes the discovery of a potential common mode failure in the control circuits of the Auxiliary Feedwater (AFW) System which could disable two of the three AFW pumps associated with Unit I operability. This condition wculd challenge the capability of the remaining motor-driven AFW pump to satisfy the feedwater requirements for the design basis events requiring AFW System operation.
