Specification 0031-P-505 examination plan lists'and describes the component location / identification drawings, examinatiot. plan tables, nondestructive examination (NDE) procedures, and ultrasonic (UT) calibration blocks to be used by Bechtel and General Clectric for the performance of the Limerick Unit 2 Preservice i I

Inspection (PSI) examination of nuclear piping systems, their supports, and RPV safe ends / nozzles.

2.0 BACKGROUND

The requirements for the Limerick. Unit 2 PSI services, including quality assurance, performed by Bechtel for Philadelphia Electric Company (PECo) are defined in Specification 8031-P-503. Requirements for Limerick Unit 2 automatic / manual ultrasonic PSI services performed by General Electric for PECo are defined in Specification 18240-P-503A.

The PSI examination and testing requirements, including regulatory and licensing commitments are identified in Specification 8031-P-504, Limerick Unit 2 Preservice Inspection Program.

This examination plan, together with the supporting documents included by reference, provides specific details as to how the various requirements and commitments made in the Presecvice Inspection Program for the examination of nuclear piping O systems and their supports are to be met.

3.0 , COMPONENT LOCATION / IDENTIFICATION DRAWINGS Component locatien/ identification drawings issued as PSI /ISI isometrics are developed from fabrication isometric drawings for ASME Code Class 1 and 2 piping systems within the nonexempt portion of the color-coded ASME Section XI Boundary P&ID's. The PSI /ISI isometrics identify welds, com-ponents and supports which are subject to examination, and show their relative locations. The same weld, component or support identification number, as the f abrication isometric, is used.

The examination boundaries for component supports are in accoedance with IWF-1300, and are shown in detail on each support detail drawing. Items delineated on the support detail drawing will be visually examined in accordance with the examination plan table requirements.

PSI /ISI isometrics are not developed for ASME Code Class 3 integral attachments and supports. Fabrication isometric drawings are used to identify all ASME Code Class 3 integral attachments to the pressure retaining boundary and all supports in ASME Code Class 3 systems requiring visual examination per

. Circumferential pipe welds and attachment welds are numbered l'.i using the Bechtel fabrication isometric drawing number, k1 followed by the spool number and the shop weld number.

EXAMPLES: (1) DBA-201-1-1, SW1 means shop weld number 1 in spool number 1 per fabrication isometric drawing number DBA-201-1.

(2) Vendor supplied large pipe modified onsite may have included new welds added via Bechtel field sketch (FSK).

Weld designations are denoted by "WX" or "WXX" ,

EXAMPLE: D8A-207-1-2A, W2A means weld number W2A in spoc1 2A (added per FSK) per fabrication isometric drawing number DBA-207-1.

The following vendor supplied spools were iden:ified with an alpha suffix added to the spool number:

A longitudinal pipe weld uses'the same number assigned to the intersecting circumferential weld, fc11csed by a suffix:

Construction procedures permit modifications of piping sub-  !

assemblies (spools) to accomodate field installation. These ,

modificationa involve cutting a spool and adding new convenience field walds. A modified spool is generally assigned ,

an cipha suffix to its original spool number. (e.g. GBB-201-1-1 t i

to GBB-101-1-1A). The addition of an alpha suffix, as identified '

in the examination plan tables, resulting from a spool  !

modification will not be cause for a change to be made to the  !

identification stamping of a shop weld if there has been no O physical change made to the weld.

'. Pipe supports are identified by using the fabrication isometric drawing number, followed by the pipe support ("H") number, (T e.g., DBA-201-1-H1, H2, etc. The pipe support number is also

(_) the number assigned to the pipe support detail drawing.

PSI /ISI isometrics or sketches are prepared for components such as heat exchangers and pumps from the available component detail drawings. Identification numbers for component welds, supports, integral attachments, and bolting are, to the extent 9ractical, developed from the available component detail t ~. wings and/or component fabrication records.

4.0 afiMINATION PLAN TABLES Examination plan tables are issued as an integral part of the PSI /ISI isometrics. The tables include weld / component / support identification and description,Section XI category and item number, examination method and/or procedure number, calibration block (when applicable) and any L ' 'e/ specific notes as necesssary. ASME Code Class 3 st  :/ integral attachment examination plan tables are basco .. the fabrication isometric drawings only.

The columns provided in the examination plan tables are self-explanatory with the exception that a plus (+) sign is added to the Section XI Code category to signify compliance with the augmented inspection requirements set forth in Section g-) 9.0 of Specification 8031-P-504.

V 5.0 NONDESTRUCTIVE EXAMINATION (NDE) PROCEDURES NDE procedures are developed in accordance with the PSI Program requirements. NDE procedure numbers applicable to each Section XI Code Category / item number are identified in the examination plan table.

Reference to NDE procedure, "UT-AUSTENITIC" in the examination plan table, signifies that any one of the following NDE procedures (with supplements, or combination thereof) may be used to examine the corresponding piping weld:

UT-AUSTENITIC -

(ultrasonic examination performed manually by Bechtel)

UT-AUSTENITIC-A - (ultrasonic examination performed by G.E.

with the G.E. SMART automatic inspection device)

UT-AUSTENITIC-M - (ultrasonic exami.7ation performed manually by G.E.)

"UT AUSTENITIC" may be used to examine a dissimilar metal piping weld from both sidus of the weld.

Specification 8031-P-505 Bechtel Quality Control Instructions are utilized for visual 0- examination, (VT-1, VT-3, VT-4)-of piping / components and pipirg/ component supports. (Per IWA-5215, a preservice system hydrostatic test is not required, (VT-2).

Where the examinatiori plan tables identify an exam method. as

-VT-1, VT-3 or VT-4, the examination procedure used shall be as identified in Section 7.3.  :

All techniques and procedures for_ visual, surface and volumetric examinations meet the requirements of ASME '

Section XI, IWA-2200. ,

6.0 UT CALIBRATION BLOCKS The design and material selection for each ultrasonic calioration block is in accordance with ASME Section XI, Appendix III, Subarticle III-3400. Pursuant to Paragraph  !

III-3430, side drilled holes (SDH's) may be installed in addition to the required notch reflectors. ASME Section V, Article 5 shall provide the dimensions for the SDH's; however, Article 5 does not apply to the number of reflectors to be ,

added. Calibration blocks for sound path, studs, and equipment examinations are designed as allowed by IWA-2240.

The UT calibration block applicable to each Section XI Code f Category / Item number requiring ultrasonic examination is O identified in the examination plan table. The UT calibration blocks applicable to this examination plan are the following:
