SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-243/97-01
Dear Dr. Keller:
An NRC inspection was conducted March 17-20,1997, at your Radiation Center and
TRIGA Mark-Il reactor facility. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that
inspection.
in general, your reactor program was implemented safely and properly. Exceptions
reviewed during the inspection were four violations of regulatory requirements involving
the irradiation of samples without prior approval, failure to post and control entry into a
high radiation area, failure to post a radiation area in the restricted fenced area outside the
reactor f acility, and the transfer of by-product material to a recipient who was not
authorized to receive the material. These violations were, however, identified by you and
appropriate corrective actions implemented.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter,
its enclosure (s) will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
