a ATTACHMENT TO LICENSEE EVENT REPORT NO. 81-007/03L-0 Wisconsin Electric Power Company Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Unit 2 Docket No. 50-301 On September 2, 1981 at 1900 hours0.022 days
0.528 hours
0.00314 weeks
7.2295e-4 months
during normal plant operations, Unit 2 boric acid heat trace circuit P-131 i was found inoperative. Circuit P-131 is the primary circuit of two heat trace circults for a manually controlled alternate boration line to the charging pump suction. There exists four flow paths for borated water to the charging pump suction.

Three of these flow paths are 'ren.otely controlled from the control roon and one is controlled locally by manual operation of isolation valves. The manual path which is serviced by heat trace circait P-131 is not used for either t normal or emergency operation of the CVCS and remains isolated during plant operation.

Failure of one of the two channels of-heat tracing for a concentrated boric acid flow path that cannot be recirculated is reportable in accordance with Technical Speci-fication 15.6.9.2.B.2 as a condition leading to operation in a degraded mode permitted by a limiting condition of operation.

At no time during this occurrence was the public' endangered.

The loss of boric acid heat trace circuit P-131 was due to a failed fuse holder. The nameplate data for the fuse holder are as follows:

Manut3cturer: Buss Type: HKP-HH Rating: 30 amps The fuse holder was replaced and the boric acid heat trace circuit was returned to service at 1038 hours0.012 days
0.288 hours
0.00172 weeks
3.94959e-4 months
on September 3, 1981.
