BOY '00, JUNO BEACH, FL 33408 FLORIDA POWER 8 LIGHT COMPANY October 29, 1982 L-82-470 Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulations Attention: Nr. Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Comnission Washington, D. C. 20555

Dear t1r. Eisenhut:

Re: St. Lucie Unit No. " 2 Docket No. 50-389 RPS Power Su 1 Test Re ort Section 7.2.5 of the St. Lucie Unit 2 Safety Evaluation Report, Sup-plement 1, dated December 1981, describes the reactor protection system matrix power supply test program and identifies confirmatory items that the NRC required for the surge and fault testing. Spe-cifically, your staff requested that:

1) The testing, as described in subsection 7.2.5 of the first supplement of the safety evaluation report, has been completed.
2) The acceptance criteria described in subsection 7.2.5 of the first supplement of the safety evaluation report has been met.
3) Confirmation be provided that the ultra-isolation trans-formers will be installed.

Florida Power and Light Company, via the attached report, confirms that the testing has been comp1eted in accordance with the program previously submitted-and reviewed by the NRC,ahd that the. acceptance criteria stated in the SSER 1, subsection 7.2.5, which the tlRC pre-viously reviewed and approved, has been met. FPL also reconfirms that the ultra-isolation transformers-will be installed prior to core load.

Very truly yours, o ert E. Uhrig Vice President Advanced Systems and Technology pool REU/RJS/JES/sms Attachment cc: J. P. O'Reilly, Region II Harold F. Reis, Esquire egin l'DR +PL 6S
