Long Vice President and Director Planning and Nuclear Safety GPU Nuclear Corporation i Upper Pond Road Parsippany, N.J. 07054

Dear Dr. Long:

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to meet with you at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station (OCNGS), on October 24, 1989. We believe these meetings serve to increase the communication between our organizations and allow for a beneficial exchange on issues where there may be a difference of opinion. Wo intend to further our communication efforts by meeting with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on the Full Term Operating License (FTOL) issue in the near future.

A letter from John V. Czapor, Acting Assistant Commissioner for Environmental Management and Control at the Department of Environmental Protection, to Thomas E. Murley, Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation at the NRC was sent on October 31, 1989 requesting a meeting. Both safety related and environmental concerns will be discussed. This first meeting could provide an opportunity for the State to identify issues of concern and to develop a mechanism for their resolution prior to the issuance of a FTOL.
