SUMMARY

OF MAY 19, 2011, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH PPL SUSQUEHANNA, LLC.

On May 19, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station in Berwick, Pennsylvania, between the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and PPL Susquehanna, LLC. (PPL). The NRC requested the meeting with PPL management to discuss the NRC

=s assessment of the safety performance of their Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (Susquehanna) Units 1 and 2 for the calendar year 2010. The NRC also conducted an Annual Assessment meeting with the public at the Eagle Building in Berwick, Pennsylvania from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm the same day.

The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Susquehanna Units 1 and 2 for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2010. The meetings also discussed the Assessment Follow up Letter for Susquehanna Unit 1 issued on May 3, 2011 (ML111230066). The NRC presentation included information on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), the results of NRC

=s performance assessment for Susquehanna Units 1 and 2, and a presentation about United States nuclear plant safety in light of recent events in Japan.

Public attendees were offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding PPL

=s performance at Susquehanna and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.

Questions from the public were addressed by the NRC.
