Dear Mr. O'Reilly,

l '

The following report of Abnormal Occurrence No. 3-2-18 is provided pursuant to the requirements of Section 6.12.2(a) of che Technical specifications to Facility Operating License No. DPR-26. - -

On Deceinber 19, 1973 an analysis of the results of monthly periodic testo and calibration checks relating to pressurizer

, pressure indicated that the setting for one of the three bi-stables associated with low pressurizer pressure safety injec-tion was slightly below that required by Item 3 in Table 3-l~of the Technical Specifications. At the time of these periodic tests and calibration checks the reactor was in the cold shut-down condition for maintenance work associated with repairs to the feedwater piping for No. 22 steam generator.

l This particular bistable device is part of a two out'of three logic system which provides for a safety injection signal

! on coincidence of low pressurizer pressure and low pressurizer level. The-setpoint was found at 1680 psig instead of 11700-L psig as required by the Technical Specifications. The other two biotabica of the cyntem were found to be operating correctly.

l The channel annociated with this device was recalibrated and re-tested saticfactorily.

2- December 21, 1973 As indicated in the December 18, 1973 report of Abnomal Occurrence No. 3-2-17, our Engineering Department is perform-ing a detailed analysis relating to instrument drift which we also feel was the cause of this discrepancy. Our report on this occurrence will cover the current status of that analy-cis. Mr. Bert Davis of your office was notified of this occur-rence by Mr. John Me.kepeace by telephone on December 19, 1973.
