1986 REQUALIFICATION EXAMINATION SCHEDULE Consumers Power Company submitted on November 1, 19_85 a response to NRC Generic Letter 85-18 that enclosed our "best estimates' of the_ need for operator licensing examinations and requalifications for fiscal years 1986, 1987, 1988, and 1989. The Generic Letter requested notification of significant changes as they occur. This is to inform you of our request to delay the Requalification Examination Schedule (as specified in Enclosure.2 of our November 1, 1985 letter) until after startup following the current refueling outage at Palisades.

Our submittal specified that the next set of requalification examinations would commence on January 31, 1986 and run through February 28, 1986. We request delay of this schedule for five weeks such that the five week schedule would commence on March 7, 1985. Since the delay may be considered a change in frequency in conducting parts of the requalif ication program, in accordance with 10CFR50.54(i), your approval is requested.

This request is based upon our requalification program requirement that reflects the annual written examinations specified by 10CFR55, Appendix A.

Previous annual examinations were conducted at various intervals, as reflected in the attached letter, from October 26, 1984 through July 5, 1985.

Although certain licensed individuals have or will have exceeded a one year period between requal exams*, we believe some interval extension is permissible in meeting the annual requirement. It should also be_ noted that our next requalification examination schedule will also slip as specified in our
