Date of Occurrence: December 7,1983 Time of Occurrence: 2:00 p.m.                                          Unit 3 Technical Specification Involved: 3 6.G conditions Prior to Occurrence - Unit 1 - Refueling outage Unit 2 - 3281 MW (th) Steady-state Unit 3 - Refueling outage Identification and Descrintion of Occurrerne - While performing inspections of unit 3 piping, per IE Bulletin 83-02, a linear crack-like indication was detected by ultrasonic examination on weld DSHS-3-2 of the head spray piping of the RHR system. The indication is located on the downstream side of the weld at approximately 10 o' clock and is approximately 1-1/2 inches long with a through wall depth of approximately 205-from the inside of the pipe.
                .This is the first crack indication identified in the 162 welds which have been inspected and evaluated during the utirasonic examination of unit 3 piping welds.
Annarent enuna of Occurrence: - Crack appears to be intergranular stress corrosion cracking.
Other Related Events: - BFRO-50-260/82040 259/83023 259/83049 Corrective Action Taken or Pinnnad: - Inspection of the remaining welds
                - required by IE Bulletin 83-02 will be completed and details of inspection findings a      corrective actions will be submitted as required.
