Steam flow was greater than 100,000 lbm/hr. NRC (Zudans) was ntoified. After senior site management was notified, an orderly shutdown was initiated at 1220 hours0.0141 days <br />0.339 hours <br />0.00202 weeks <br />4.6421e-4 months <br /> on 12/31/83 Anoarent Cause of Occurrence :

Possible resin intrusion. Other plant parameters (offgas radiation level, Ph and conductivity) support this suspicion. -

Initiated orderly unit shutdown and efforts to locate source. Orderly shutdown was terminated at 1435 hours0.0166 days <br />0.399 hours <br />0.00237 weeks <br />5.460175e-4 months <br /> after chloride concentration was confirmed to be within specification and the suspected source isolated.

An investigation is continuing into the cause and corrective action. A communication breakdown between the labratory and the shift engineer appears to have been the main contributor to the delayed action.
