CHROMIUM COATED CLADDING On September 18 through 19, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met with Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) representatives (Andrew Bowman et al.)
to discuss Westinghouse EnCore accident tolerant fuel chromium coated cladding. Frank Goldner, Department of Energy, also participated in the meeting. On September 18, 2019, Westinghouse discussed its licensing topical report (TR) plans and presented a detailed description of the current development status of EnCore accident tolerant fuel chromium-coated cladding including licensing plans, description, material properties, and benefits of coated cladding. On September 19, 2019, Westinghouse presented information on the impact on analytical methods and alignment with the NRCs Interim Staff Guidance on chromium coated cladding, safety analysis methods, and transportation and spent fuel pool storage. Westinghouse also discussed the near-term plans for the Westinghouse chromium-coated cladding TR. Westinghouse submitted presentation slides via letter dated September 13, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)
