Subject:
Significant Deficiency Report No. 14 Defective Crimps in Electrical Connectors Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 NRC Construction Permit Nos. CPPR'106, 107 Attachments: a) Letter G. G. Sherwood (GECo) to 2. H.
Engelken (USNRC) dated 9/28/79 b) Letter PE-2274, H. G. DeVoss (GECo) to R. A. Muflord (PECO) dated January 10,. 1980 File: QUAL 2-10-2 (SDR #14)
Dear Mr. Grier:
The attachments have brought to our attention deficiencies in crimped pins associated with the General Electric Power Generation Control Complex (PGCC) being supplied for Limerick Generating Station (LGS). These deficiencies have been previously reported to the USNRC by General Electric under the provisions of 10CFR, Part 21 (See Attachment a).
The pin cr1mp deficiencies associated with the LGS PGCC were previously evaluated by PECC during April 1979 and, at that time were determined not to be reportable to the USNRC under either 10CFR50.55(e) or 10CFR, Part 21. That evaluation was made, however, prior to the site inspections of delivered PGCC components at LGS.
The results of the site inspection are contained in attachment 2 and indicate the need for extensive reinspection and repair of crimped pina associated with LGS Unit 2. We now consider the subject deficiency to be a significant deficiency per 10CFR50.55(e) and are hereby notifying you as required.

We believe that the General Electric report submitted under the provisions of.10CFR, Part 21 provides the information required for 10CFR50.55(e) reporting. Therefore we anticipate chac this letter will be our only report to you on this subject.
We will, of course, assure that defective crimps discovered in the LGS PGCC are corrected in accordance with instructions received from General Electric.
Sincerely
