Docket No. 50-352 Attachm:nt to Monthly Operating Report for March 1998 Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 March 1 through March 31,1998

l. Narrative Summary of Operatino Exoeriences Unit 1 began the month of March 1998 at 93% of rated thermal power (RTP) due to limitations resulting from the clogged #2 jet pump riser nozzle. Folloviing evaluation, ;

power was restored to 100% on March 6,1998 at 0150 hours0.00174 days
0.0417 hours
2.480159e-4 weeks
5.7075e-5 months
with one remaining limitation for the jet pump problem which limits core flow to 105%.

For the remainder of the month, power was limited to less than 100% RTP in varying degrees by the jet pump problem, a control rod being fully inserted, and coastdown.

On March 6,1998 at 0156 hours0.00181 days
0.0433 hours
2.579365e-4 weeks
5.9358e-5 months
, reactor power was reduced to 99% of RTP due to cyclic output from the Loose Parts Monitoring system. Power was restored to 100% RTP at 1600 hours0.0185 days
0.444 hours
0.00265 weeks
6.088e-4 months
.

On March 7,1998 at 2200 hours0.0255 days
0.611 hours
0.00364 weeks
8.371e-4 months
, power was reduced to 98% of RTP for main turbine valve testing. Power was restored to 99% RTP at 2300 hours0.0266 days
0.639 hours
0.0038 weeks
8.7515e-4 months
.

On March 14,1998 at 2230 hours0.0258 days
0.619 hours
0.00369 weeks
8.48515e-4 months
, power was reduced to 90% for main turbine control valve testing. Power was restored to 96% on March 15,1998 at 0108 hours0.00125 days
0.03 hours
1.785714e-4 weeks
4.1094e-5 months
.

On March 21,1998 at 2000 hours0.0231 days
0.556 hours
0.00331 weeks
7.61e-4 months
, power was reduced to 93% for main turbine valve testing. Power was restored to 94% at 2200 hours0.0255 days
0.611 hours
0.00364 weeks
8.371e-4 months
.

On March 22,1998 at 0047 hours5.439815e-4 days
0.0131 hours
7.771164e-5 weeks
1.78835e-5 months
, power was reduced to 85% of RTP due to Recirculation pump high temperatures and increasing drywell parameters due to tripping of the 124B load center breaker. Power was further reduced to 50% of RTP at 1400 hours0.0162 days
0.389 hours
0.00231 weeks
5.327e-4 months
as a conservative effort to minimize overall effect on the plant. Power was restored to 87% of RTP on March 26,1998 at 2200 hours0.0255 days
0.611 hours
0.00364 weeks
8.371e-4 months
.

On March 26,1998 at 2200 hours0.0255 days
0.611 hours
0.00364 weeks
8.371e-4 months
, power was reduced to 60% of RTP for a rod pattern adjustment. Power was restored to 92% of RTP on March 27,1998 at 1110 hours0.0128 days
0.308 hours
0.00184 weeks
4.22355e-4 months
.

On March 27,1998 at M00 hours, power was reduced to 88% of RTP due to high turbine backpremeure. Power was restored to 90% of RTP at 2300 hours0.0266 days
0.639 hours
0.0038 weeks
8.7515e-4 months
.

Power was restored to 90% of RTP on March 31,1998 at 0225 hours0.0026 days
0.0625 hours
3.720238e-4 weeks
8.56125e-5 months
.

On March 31,1998 at 0950 hours0.011 days
0.264 hours
0.00157 weeks
3.61475e-4 months
, power was reduced to 88% of RTP due to high turbine backpressure. Power was restored to 90% of RTP at 2120 hours0.0245 days
0.589 hours
0.00351 weeks
8.0666e-4 months
.
