Preparation of this Anti-Trust Filing was initiated in response to a telephone call from your office to W. J. McCarthy, Jr. on October 30, 1973 requesting an early, informal, five-copy filing to assist in reducing the anticipated spring peak in the Department of Justice review process. • January 9, .1974 Page Two An actual peak load replaces the forecasted peak load for the summer of 1973. Although the forecasted peak loads for Detroit Edison for the period 1974 through 1983 are still the same, the effect of the higher than anticipated 1973 peak load was to drop the average annual projected growth rate from 7.2% to 6.4% (Table 2). A similar effect shows up in Table 3 which is a projecticn for the combined Detroit Edison and Consumers Power systems.

Table 1-2 shows a reduction in " Total owned Capability" of apprcximately 250 MW and a reduction in accredited rating of existing units of an additional 250 MW. Also the addition of Belle River Units 1 and 2 in 1979 and 1980, respectively, allowed for* the slippage of Greenwood 2, Fermi 3, and Greenwood 3, as shown in Tables 1-2 and 1-3.

The answer to question 8 contains three changes. The Consumers Power - Detroit Edison - Indiana and Michigan Electric Company agreement now incorporates Amendment No. 1973, 5, filed with the Federal Power Commission on December 4, Docket E8538, Notice of Amendment to Agreement dated December 13, 1973. The Consumers Power - Detroit Edison -

Hydro-Electric Power of Ontario Agreement was amended with an August 13, 1973 filing date and was accepted for filing 16, 1973. The third change under Docket E8364 on November is the mention of a letter of termination to the 1973 Fordwhereby Motor Company from Detroit Edison dated December December 19, Detroit 31, agreement with Ford will terminate on midnight, 1974.
