Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Schedules Regulatory Conference with Avera McKennan Hospital The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a regulatory teleconference on July 15 with officials from Avera McKennan Hospital to discuss six apparent violations of regulatory requirements identified by the NRC during an inspection of several of their medical facilities in Sioux Falls and Mitchell, S.D.

The teleconference will begin at 9 a.m. Central Time and will be open to the public. NRC officials will be available to answer questions from the public following the business portion of the meeting. The public will have the opportunity to listen to the meeting and ask questions via a phone bridge by calling 800-857-9839, passcode 2560892#.

The purpose of the conference is to discuss the apparent violations identified in a March 30 inspection report. They involve the licensees failure to monitor occupational exposure of authorized users involved in the handling and use of radioactive materials at its medical facilities.

The inspection was conducted in November 2019.

No decision on the final safety significance of the apparent violations or any NRC actions will be made at the meeting.
