Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Schedules a Pre-Decisional Enforcement Teleconference With Idaho State University The NRC will hold a pre-decisional enforcement teleconference with officials from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, on May 10 to discuss five apparent violations of regulatory requirements documented by the NRC during an inspection.
The teleconference will begin at 9 a.m. Mountain time and will be open to the public. The public will be able to listen to the meeting and ask questions following the business portion of the teleconference. Registration will be required to access the WebEx meeting link and telephone conference bridge information.
The purpose of the teleconference is to discuss five apparent violations, including two failures of their radiation safety committee and reactor safety committee to provide effective oversight of, and written procedures for two safety significant licensed activities; failure to comply with the provisions of a previously issued Confirmatory Order; and two failures related to the universitys special nuclear material inventory and reporting to the Nuclear Materials Management and Safeguards System. These apparent violations are discussed in an April 2 NRC inspection report.
The final portion of this meeting will be closed to the public because university officials may discuss security-related information regarding the apparent violations.
No decision on the final safety significance of the apparent violations or any NRC actions will be made at the meeting.
