No: IV-23-002 February 27, 2023 CONTACT: Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Names Scott Schwind Senior Resident Inspector At Callaway Nuclear Power Plant The NRC has selected Scott Schwind as the new senior resident inspector at the Callaway nuclear power plant in Fulton, Missouri.

Scotts experience as a resident inspector at two other plants, combined with his technical knowledge, and his dedication to our safety and security mission will enable him to oversee the continued safe operation of the Callaway nuclear plant, said NRC Region IV Acting Administrator Rob Lewis. He is an excellent choice to lead our inspections at Callaway.

Schwind joined the NRC in 1997 and served as the resident inspector at Indian Point 2 and Comanche Peak nuclear power plants. He also was the senior resident inspector at the Cooper nuclear power plant. He left the agency in 2007 to pursue other goals and returned to the NRC in 2021, and has served as the resident inspector at Callaway since April 2022.

Schwind holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and physics and a Master of Arts degree in theology. He also served aboard the USS Woodrow Wilson.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Schwind will be joined by an NRC staffer temporarily assigned to help him until a permanent resident is named. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
