Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Schedules a Regulatory Conference with Entergy Operations The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a regulatory conference with officials from Entergy Operations on July 29, beginning at 9 a.m. Central time, to discuss the safety significance of a finding the NRC identified during an inspection at the Waterford nuclear power plant. The plant is located in Killona, Louisiana.

Due to local COVID-19 conditions, members of the public will be able to watch the meeting via Webex, with the ability to listen and ask questions following the business portion of the meeting by calling 888-324-8110, Passcode: 9931673.

The purpose of this regulatory conference is for NRC and Entergy officials to discuss a preliminary finding of low-to-moderate safety significance before the agency makes a final determination.

The preliminary finding and an associated apparent violation of NRC requirements involve radiation monitor calibration and maintenance issues affecting the plant, and the ability of operators to appropriately classify emergency action levels and perform radiation dose assessments. The finding is described in an NRC June 11 inspection report.

A decision on the final safety significance of the apparent violation or any NRC actions will not be made at the meeting.
