On Sept. 9, a fire occurred in the waste handling and packaging area in one of the facilitys buildings. The fire prompted an Alert declaration, the lowest of the NRCs emergency classifications for nuclear fuel facilities. The fire was extinguished and there was no threat to public health, safety or the environment.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at the NRCs Region II offices in the Marquis One Tower, Suite 1200, 245 Peachtree Center Ave., NE, in Atlanta. NRC officials will be available to answer questions from the public after the business portion of the meeting.
