Viktoria Mitlyng, 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil, 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at LaSalle Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Jamie Benjamin as the new senior resident inspector at the LaSalle nuclear power plant. He joins NRC resident inspector Roy Elliott at the two-unit site, which is operated by Constellation Energy Company.

Benjamin joined the NRC in 2002 as a reactor inspector in Region I. He has held several positions throughout the agency. Most recently, he was a senior reactor inspector in Region III. He was also the senior resident inspector at the Braidwood nuclear power plant and the resident inspector at the Millstone nuclear power plant.

Prior to joining the agency, he worked as a prototype instructor with the U.S. Navys nuclear propulsion program.

Jamies familiarity inspecting plants across the country and his experience teaching with the Navys nuclear propulsion program make him the ideal candidate to lead the resident inspectors office at LaSalle, said Region III Administrator Jack Giessner. He brings a wide range of technical knowledge to the job which will ensure the plant, throughout all of its phases, is in line with the NRCs regulations.

Benjamin holds a bachelors degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee.

Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
