Dave Gasperson 404-997-4417 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Watts Bar Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have named Robert Wehrmann as the agency's new resident inspector at the Watts Bar Nuclear Power Plant near Spring City, Tennessee. He joins NRC Senior Resident Inspector Wesley Deschaine at the two-unit site operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Wehrmann joined the NRC as a project engineer in 2021 in the Resident Inspector Development Program in the NRC's Region III office in Lisle, Illinois. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Baylor University.

Before joining the NRC, Wehrmann worked as an HVAC systems engineer at the Arkansas Nuclear One power plant outside Russellville, Arkansas. He also served for six years in the U.S.

Navy as a nuclear submarine machinist's mate.

"Robert joins a long line of U.S. Navy veterans who have become resident inspectors with the NRC. I'm confident he will bring the discipline he gained in the Navy and his recent experience at Arkansas One plant to support him in this important role," said NRC Region II Administrator Laura Dudes. "The public can rest assured that Robert will ensure Watts Bar staff continues to follow our regulatory requirements.

The NRC assigns at least two resident inspectors to each operating U.S. commercial nuclear power plant. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring plant operations, major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
