Dave Gasperson, 404-997-4417 NRC Schedules Virtual Public Meeting to Discuss H.B. Robinson Nuclear Power Plant 2021 Safety Performance Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2021 safety performance for the H.B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant during a virtual public meeting on April 13.

Robinson is located near Hartsville, South Carolina, and operated by Duke Energy.

The online session will start at 3 p.m. Eastern time via Microsoft Teams. It will begin with a short presentation from the NRC staff responsible for oversight of the plant, including the resident inspectors based at the site, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Members of the public preferring to listen to the meeting via telephone can call 301-576-2978, passcode 385361362#. Telephone participants will need to press *6 to unmute their phones to ask the NRC staff questions during that part of the meeting.

The NRC determined that Robinson nuclear power plant operated safely during 2021 and it is currently under the NRCs normal level of oversight.

The NRC Reactor Oversight Process, which requires thousands of hours of inspections each year, uses color-coded inspection findings and indicators to measure plant performance. The colors start at green and increase to white, yellow or red, commensurate with the safety significance of the issues involved. Inspection findings or performance indicators with more than very low safety significance trigger increased NRC oversight.

Inspections at Robinson are performed by NRC resident inspectors and other specialist inspectors from the NRC Region II office in Atlanta.

The annual assessment letter and the meeting notice are available on the NRC website. Current performance information for the site is available and updated quarterly.
