Ladies and Gentlemen:

The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company (CEI) and Centerior Service Company (CSC) submitted a request for a 10CFR50.80 Consent Order and Conforming License Amendment for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant Unit Number 1 on June 30,1998. A marked up copy of the proposed Operating License change is shown in the Attaclunent. This proposed clarification does not change any of the safety assessment or significant hazards considerations previously submitted.

It is requested that this proposed change be implemented along with the other changes requested by the previous submittals on this subject.

Very truly yours, s ,
