Meeting Summary:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271).

In November 2023, Oklo shared a draft white paper on its proposed Concept of Operations and the NRC staff discussed preliminary feedback on the draft white paper during a meeting on December 11, 2023 (ML24074A395). At a meeting with the staff on September 26, 2024, Oklo presented an update on its concept of operations strategy and discussed a planned topical report on fleet-based operator licensing. In December 2024, Oklo shared a draft of this topical report via its electronic reading room.

The purpose of the January 22, 2025, meeting was for the staff to discuss its feedback on the draft topical report. Oklo noted that the goal of this meeting was to identify any clarifying information that should be included in the topical report to support a more efficient review. Oklo was also interested in understanding the potential policy issues that the staff had identified.

Oklo and the staff discussed the feedback and Oklo provided responses to the staffs questions.

Oklo stated that it will consider the information provided by the staff as it finalizes the topical report. Oklo plans to submit the TR formally to the NRC in February 2025. Upon receipt of the topical report, the staff will conduct a completeness review and develop a schedule, factoring in the potential need for Commission engagement No regulatory decisions were made as a result of this meeting.
