Meeting Summary:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271). Highlights from the meeting included the following:
The NRC staff met with Oklo to discuss the next steps in its concept of operations proposed strategy for its advanced reactors.
In December 2023, the staff had met with Oklo to discuss its proposed approach to operations and organizational structure, and presented potential exemptions related to licensed operators. Oklo considered the staffs earlier feedback in the development of its strategy.
Oklo stated that it plans to submit two reports for staff review on licensed operators and staffing methodology.
The staff provided feedback to Oklo related to how it plans to license and train operators.
Oklo and the staff plan to hold additional meetings after Oklo shares drafts of the reports.
No regulatory decisions were made as a result of this meeting.
