Meeting Summary:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271). Highlights from the meeting and relevant background information are outlined below.

On June 2, 2023, Oklo shared a draft white paper (WP) entitled Development of Regulatory Controls: Shutdown Case Study (ML23219A015, proprietary). This revised draft WP superseded the draft WP entitled, Regulatory Controls Example that was previously shared with the NRC staff on April 12, 2023 (ML23193A450, proprietary).

During meetings held on June 27, 2023, and June 28, 2023, Oklo and the NRC staff discussed feedback provided on both drafts of this WP (ML24016A239). The NRC staff shared preliminary feedback on the draft WP to support the meeting discussions.

The purpose of this meeting was for Oklo to provide information on its proposed approach to regulatory controls for its facilities and to discuss follow-up items from the June 2023 meetings on the same topics. Oklo provided the following goals for the meeting:

o Communicate Oklos proposed resolution of NRC staff feedback from previous

meeting, o provide context on Oklos design approach based on NRC staff feedback during previous meeting, and o determine if the NRC staff has additional feedback on Oklos approach before docketing of the WP.

The NRC staff stated that the meeting discussions improved the NRC staffs understanding of Oklos approach. Oklo noted that it intends to use the approach to regulatory controls in the docketed WP for the readiness assessment and license application.

No regulatory decisions were made as a result of this meeting.
