W. Jessup Meeting Summary:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the partially closed meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271). Highlights from the meeting included the following:

The staff had previously met with Oklo to discuss cyber security on March 28, 2023 (ML23171B113). During the March 2023 meeting, the NRC staff stated that a future meeting on cyber security would be beneficial and provided questions to support a future meeting.

The purpose of the August 1, 2023, meeting was to provide the staff with additional information on its planned approach to cyber security and respond to the earlier feedback.

Oklo shared the following goals for the August 1, 2023, meeting:

o Discuss key considerations of Oklos facility and approach to cyber security, o

Provide responses to previous NRC staff feedback and questions on Oklos approach to cyber security, o

Discuss an example of the designs intentional control system layout for cyber security, and o

Solicit feedback on Oklos graded approach for including critical digital assets under the NRC-controlled cyber security program.

As a result of the meeting, the NRC staff developed a better understanding of Oklos approach to cyber security.

The staff would benefit from additional details on Oklos planned cybersecurity defensive architecture, such as a copy of the network topology that could be provided as part of a future readiness assessment or license application review.

No additional pre-application interactions are currently planned on this topic.

No regulatory decisions were made as a result of this meeting.
