i

\\

i _f The Inspector will use the Reinspection Checklist (Attachment 6.1) s to document Inspection Results in accordance with CPP-009.

{

5.1 Support Identification 5.1.1 Verify that the support is permanently marked with the mark number. The Identification may be die-stamped, vibro etched or on a nameplate which is securely fastened to the support structure.

5.1.2 Verify that.the installed support components, mark number and general configuration are the same as shown on the design drawings (DWG) or component modification card (CMC).

Detail dimensional checks are not a requirement for support identification purposes, however, they may be checked to the extent necessary to identify the support.

5.2 Configuration (Note 5) 5.2.1 Components - Verify that all installed components are the same as those listed in the Bill of Materials on the design drawings (DWG) or component modification card (CMC).

(m

\\s ')

Standard catalog items can be verified by checking actual nominal dimensions against dimensions given on the typical inspection drawings (Attachment 6.17).

Springs, struts and snubbers shall be verified by checking the model no./ catalog code against the Bill of Materials on the Dh'G/ CMC.

Structural components shall be verified by checking the appropriate nominal dimensions.

ITT Grinnell components in Unit 1 and Common can be verified by checking actual nominal dimensions against dimensions given in.18.

5.2.2 Materials - Record the itam number, description, and appropriate identification (i.e., heat number or vendors unique identifier) on Attachment 6.2.

Items with no identification or identification not' distinguishable shall be clearly indicated on.2.

This information is required for documentation review only.

5.2 Configuration (Cont'd) s 5.2.3 Orientation - Verify that the support orientation is in accordance with the design drawing / component modification card (DWG/ CMC) and hanger location drawing (BRHL/GHH).

Also identify in the remarks section snubbers, struts and springs which are installed opposite (end to end) to that shown on the drawings.

5.2.4 Installation - Verify that the support is installed in accordance with the design drawing / component modification card (DWG/ CMC) and dimensions are within tolerances.

Skewed member attachment points shall be based on centerline of skewed member and not the center of the " footprint" created by the attachment weld.

(Notes 19, 20)

All dimensions and tolerances shall be as shown on the DWG/ CMC. Where no tolerances are given on the DWG/ CMC, the following shall govern:

A.

Bolt Hole Location f( )

1.

Baseplates (Note 2)

From centerline of support attachment to centerline of bolt i 1/4 inch.

When shown on the DWG/ CMC, the ed e distance from the F

centerline of bolt to the edge of the baseplate shall be considered the minimum.

If edge distance is not shown on the DWG/ CMC the dimension shown in Table 5.3-1 Page 9 shall be considered the minimum.

2.

Structural Members Centerline of bolt location shall be within i l'/4 inch.

J When shown on the DWG/ CMC, the longitudinal edge distance j

shall be considered a minimum.

(~~)g G.

" Cut-to-Suit" shall mean that an item can be

(,

installed so as to make an assembly correct provided length does not exceed that on the Bill of Materials.

5.2.5 Offset - Verify that snubber and strut rod ends are not offset more than 15' from the bracket or pipe clamp, unless otherwise specified on the design drawing.

5.2.6 Clearances - Verify that the clearances meet the following criteria:

A.

Where design shows 1/16 inch on both sides, the total dimensional tolerance.shall be 1/8" t 1/16" (e.g. 0" on one side with 1/8" 1 1/16" on the other, 1/16" t 1/32" on both sides or any combination).

2.

Where design shows 0 inches on one side and 1/16 inch on the' other side, the sum cf both gaps may not exceed 1/8 inch or be less than 1/32 inch. Where design shows 0" on

NOTES:

D (V.

1.

On dual snubber / strut / spring can installation. inspector shall identify snubbers / struts / spring can with an A and B when referencing inspection results.

2.

Measure the distance from the centerline of bolts to the edges of the baseplates.

Identify bolts w' nose edge distance is less than 1.5' bole diameters and record their edge distance on Attachment 6.3.

3.

If more than one nominal size spacer is installed at a spherical bearing, the resultant gap shall be less than the thickness of the thinnest size spacer.

4.

Cotter keys shall be fully open to the extent that they cannot become. dislodged from the pin or bolt they are securing. They should be the maximum size the cotter pin hole will permit.

5.

Where Bill of Material gives letter designations for component parts, refer to Attachment 6.17 for description and dimensions.

6.

When measuring weld dimensions during course of inspection, such dimensions should be determined as accurately as is practically achievable using standard weld inspection tools.

7.

Unequal leg size convex fillet welds are acceptable provided the I

smaller leg meets or exceeds the minimum specific size.

For concave fillet welds with unequal legs the theoretical throat must be determined.

8.

The required weld length for tube steel connections is the nominal tube width, unless otherwise noted on the DWG/ CMC.

9.

The surface of the reinforcement of butt welded joints may be flush with the base material or may have uniform crowns.

10.

For fillet welds on skewed angles greater than 135*, the inspector shall not be concerned with weld size, unless machining is called for, in which case the weld is considered a normal fillet veld and must meet the size required on the drawings.

11.

For fillet welds on skewed angles between 60 and 135*, the weld size shown on the drawing should be the same as the "s" dimension shown in veld detail drawing (see page 52, Attachment 6.17).

12.

For fillet welds on skewed angles between 45 and 60*, act inclusive, the weld size "s" shall be verified by measuring the "d" dimension as shown in weld detail drawing (see page 52, ' Attachment 6.17)

O 11

QI-058 Rev. 4 NOTES: (Cont'd)

(,_ h -

V.

13.

The maximum weld crown on flare V-groove welds and flare bevel welds shall be 3/16 inch but in no case cause distortion in adjoining members.

14.

Measurement shall be from top to bottom and from side to side.

15.

For fillet welds on skewed angles between 29 and 44' the weld size "S" shall be verified by measuring the "d" dimension as shown in weld detail drawing (see page 53, Attachment 6.17).

16.

Deleted 17.

Prior to the start of the inspection, assure that the welds are clean of any foreign material which would imr.ede an adequate visual inspection. Coatings (paint) may be removed with the concurrence of the Level III Inspector if the inspector judges that excessive or uneven coating application would impede an adequate. inspection of the weld.

18.

Inspectors shall record the tool code (Attachment 6.14), Serial Number and Calibration due date, as applicable, on Attachment 6.13.

19.

Dimensions shall be measured to the nearest 1/16", unless otherwise specified.

~

20.

Angles shall be measured to the nearest degree.

21.

If additional space is required in the remarks column of Reinspection Checklist, use Attachment 6.12 22.

Inaccessible items shall be identified in the remarks column of Reinspection Checklist.

23.

Any single continuous fillet weld may be less than the specified fillet weld dimension by not more than 1/16 inch provided that the total undersize portion of the weld doesn't exceed 10% of the length of the weld.

Individual undersize weld portions shall not exceed 2 inches in length.

24.

A U-Guide shall mean a U-Bar or U-Bolt used as a guide on a rigid frame. Clearances should be specified on the drawing.

25.

U-Bolt type supports shall mean springs, struts or snubbers utilizing a U-Bolt.
