SUBJECT:
DAILY HIGHLIGHT DIABLO CANYON The Vendor Programs Branch (VPB/IE) is completing an inspection on Friday, April 5, of Cardinal Industrial Products, Inc. concerning materials provided to PG&E and their contractor Pullman for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. This inspection relates to a follow-up of IE Bulletin 84-52 and allegations contained in a March 14, 1985 supplemental 2.206 petition from the Government Accountability Project.
The preliminary results indicate that PG&E will probably have to replace 48 studs on the MSIV's and resolve the quality certification for 41 purchase order items. Region V will follow PG&E's activities. NRR will meet with VPB on Monday, April 8, to discuss the details of the inspection results as they relate to licensing activities.
