The SALP Board for Diablo Canyon Unit 1 and Unit 2 is currently scheduled to meet on October 17, 1984.
In accordance with NRR Office Letter No. 44, "NRR Inputs to SALP Process," you are raquested to provide input to the NRR SALP evaluation for NRR activities on Diablo Canyon Unit 1 for the 18 month period
' i;j from January 1, 1983 through June 30, 1984.
I is the listing of the NRR activities selected for evaluation i
including the assigned individual. It is noted that the activities do not always cover the entire 18 month period. You are requested to evaluate each of the activities from the NRR perspective witit regard to the 7 1
criteria provi:$ed in Enclosure 2. You should designate PG&E's performance as Categon/ 1, 2 or 3 in accordance with the definitions in Enclosure 2.
An overall performance category should also be provided. Specific elements to be considered in the evaluation are given in NRC Manual Chapter 0516.

1 Category 2.
i A combination of attributes which demonstrates achievement of satisfactory i
safety performance; i.e., licensee management attention and involvement are l
evident and are concerned with nuclear safety; licensee resources are adequate j
and are reasonably effective such that satisfactory performance with respect to operational safety or construction is being achieved.
