• JEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON BURIED ELECTRICAL CONDUITS FOR DIABLO CANYON UNIT 2 Based on the Unit 2 design calculation audits of October 2-5 and November 7-8, 1984 the Structural and Geotechnical Engineering Branch (SGEB) finds that additional information on the buried electrical conduit is required from the licensee before the adequacy of the design can be assessed. The particular information necessary is:

A.

Design calculations used to qualify the conduit between the pull boxes.

B.

The soil properties along the conduit runs.

C.

The mechanical properties of the conduit.

D.

The mechanical characteristics of the flexible joints used to isolate the conduit from the pull boxes, including the spring constants for the lateral and axial translaticrs.

E.

Movements of the pull boxes due to earthquake motion.

This information should be provided by December 31, 1984 in order to support the current projected schedule.
