PSC has noted its intention to reduce.this roving fire watch once<the new fire detection system was operational,in References 1, 2, andV 5.

Since the new fire detection system is operational in the area of the two original Turbine Water Removal Pumps, it is considered sufficient n to"' reduce the fire watch frequency in this specific-area to once per hour.

s FUTURE FIRE WATCH REDUCTION-PLANS The Turbine. Watier Removal Pump modification consists of the 2 -

installation of;a third, full sized pump with sufficient separation from.

the' original' two pumps.

As an interim measure before installation of this new pump is completed, a repair; procedure similiar to those identified in Section 4.9 of Reference 1 will be prepared to use the new' mot'or to replace one of the existing motors if it were damaged by a fire.

There would be 15 to 20 hours2.314815e-4 days
0.00556 hours
3.306878e-5 weeks
7.61e-6 months
available to effect this repair. When this motor is on site, and the repair' procedure is in place, the NRC will be provided justification and requested to concur with the elimination'of the remaining hourly fire watch on the Turbine Water Removal Pumps.
