Dear Mr. Johnson:

l PSC committed in our June 25,1984 (P-84194) letter that oil mist detection was to be placed above each Hydraulic Power Unit. This detection is the result of our Branch Technical Position 9.5-1, Appendix A Review. Final installation of the detection system was completed the week of November 5,1984, and as discussed in our June 25, 1984 letter, the equipment purchased and being installed to detect oil mist was a "first of a kind" equipment and with all first of a kind equipment there is an element of uncertainty when applying it to resolve a specific problem. Not too unexpectantly, the equipment did not c;;erate during the initial checkout. Both the manufacturer and-supplier were contacted to repair the system and on November 15, 1984 a representative of the manufacturer did repair the equipment, balanced the entire system and placed it in service. Since the initial repair operation, the oil mist detection equipment was again found incperable on November 21, 1984. The manufacturer and supplier /-{0OVh0
