i RECORD PROCEDURE VERIFIED CURRENT AND CHECKED FOR TEMPORAR Y CHANGE 5 IF FIELD COPIES REQUIRED. USE PBF@26i IAW NP 124 AND DO M2I COMPLETE THIS DLOCK BY: DATE:

1.0 PURPOSE To provide direction for isolation and restoration of the Z-31 Instrument Air Dryer to service.

2.0 REFERENCES

2.1 Tech Manual No. 01334, Deltech Engineering, Inc.

2.2 IR 96-006, NRC Inspection Report; NRC Commitment for Operations procedures PMT/QC reviews.

3.0 PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS 3.1 Normal response to AOP-5B (Loss ofInst. Air) assumes that the north and south IA headers are normally split downstream of the IA dryers. When an air dryer is out of service IA-245 is open, which cross-connects the north and south IA headers downstream of the IA dryers.

3.2 Ensure power is turned off before pressurizing Z-31. This is to prevent depressurizing the IA system through the dryer purge valves.

4.0 INITIAL CONDITIONS FOR REMOVING Z-31 FROM SERVICE One instrument air compressor in operation supplying instrument air loads with both IA dryers in i a normal lineup. l 5.0 PROCEDURE - ISOL ATION OF I A DRYER Z-31 5.1 Open IA-245, IA north and south header cross-connect.

5.2 Shut IA-237, Z-31 IA dryer outlet and bypass isolation.

4 5.3 Verify FI-3081 (south IA header flow), FI-3082 (north IA header flow), and Z-39 DPs are responding normally.

'- INSTRUCTIONS

  • CAUTIONa INFORM CONTROL TO MONITOR NORTH AND SOUTH IA HEADER PRESSURES DURING BLOWDOWN.  ;

I NOTE: IfZ-31 is in a cycle where thepurge valve is open, the dryer will depressuri:.e itself ,

and the heaters will trip offdue to IA-273 andIA-274 repositioning.  ;

i 5.4 Shut IA-13, Z-31 IA dryer inlet and bypass isolation.

5.5 Turn Z-31 control switch to "OFF" position.

5.6 Open IA-272, Z-31 IA dryer inlet vent and blowdown dryer.

5.7 Open Breaker No. 7 PP-3, Z-31 IA dryer power supply.

l 6.0 SUGGESTED DANGER TAGGING OF DRYER l Danger tag the following:

IA-245 IA north and south header cross-connect OPEN IA-237 Z-31 IA dryer outlet and bypass isolation SHUT IA-13 Z-31 IA dryer inlet and bypass isolation SHUT IA-272 Z-31 IA dryer inlet vent OPEN Brkr No.7 PP-3 Z-31 IA dryer power supply breaker OPEN 7.0 INITIAL CONDITIONS FOR RETURNING Z-31 TO SERVICE 7.1 One instrument air compressor in operation supplying instrument air loads 7.2 The other IA dryer, Z-39, supplying both the north and south IA headers with IA-245 open.

8.0 PROCEDURE - RESTORATION OF IA DRYER Z-31

  • CAUTIONa REVIEW PRECAUTION AND LIMITATION 3.2 BEFORE PROCEEDING.

8.1 Verify dryer ON/OFF SWITCH IS "OFF."

8.2 Close IA-272, Z-31 IA dryer inlet vent valve.

% INSTRUMENT AIR DRYER Z-31 OPERATING January 25,1997 INSTRUCTIONS "CAUTIONa INFORM CONTROL, TO MONITOR NORTH AND SOUTH IA l HEADER PRESSURES UNTIL Z-31 IS FULLY PRESSURIZED. j l PMT 1 8.3 Slowly pressurize air dryer by cracking open IA-13, the Z-31 IA dryer inlet and bypass l isolation valve, AND verify that the air dryer is leak tight.

8.4 After dryer has pressurized, open IA-13 fully (leave IA-237, dryer outlet, shut).

8.5 Turn dryer ON/OFF switch "ON."

NOTE: M-3094-S trips open when the dryer is turned off and must be manually reset. To initially seat completely, the valve requires severalpsid across it, and during normal operation the required dp is not reached Therefore, a differentialpressure must be induced in order to reset the valve.

8.6 Resetting of Bvoass Solenoid Valve IA-3094-S 8.6.1 Check open IA-245, IA north and south header cross-connect.

8.6.2 Check shut IA-237, Z-31 IA dryer outlet and bypass isolation.

8.6.3 Check shut IA-272, Z-31 IA dryer inlet vent.

8.6.4 Check open IA-13, Z-31 IA dryer inlet and bypass isolation.

8.6.5 Check dryer energized, power on light illuminated.

8.6.6 Shut IA-242 (IA-3094-S downstream isolation).

8.6.7 Shut IA-294 (root isolation for PS-3094).

i 8.6.8 Remove cap from I&C test connection calibration port on PS-3094. l l

8.6.9 Manually hold the solenoid valve reset level in the reset position, and vent the isolated line by opening IA-294 (root isolation for PS-3094). Leave IA-294 l

open and remain holding the reset lever in the reset position for steps 8.6.10 l and 8.6.I1.

8.6.10 Put cap back onto calibration port.

8.6.11 Open IA-242 (IA-3094-S downstream isolation).

)

1 8.6.12 The manual reset lever should now stay latched.
