3.0 PRECAUTIONS AND I IMITATIONS 3.1 A radiation work permit and continuous Health Physics coverage is required while changing filters, as the filters are highly radioactive.

O V 3.2 Use extreme caution against falling or dropping tools when working around the shield plug opening.

i l

3.3 Ensure the small yellow lead filter removal cask is in a plastic bag with blotting paper prior to transporting cask to prevent spread of contamination. )

l 3.4 As much work as possible should be performed remotely through the filter access / shield plug opening, to minimize radiation exposure.

l 3.5+ Depending on expected radiation exposure, some steps that involve remotely operated l tools may be eliminated in favor of direct operation (pending HP approval).

3.6 Review Precautions and Limitations of 01-22.

3.7 Weight of small yellow cask - 1325 pounds.

3.8 Weight of shield plug - <3450 pounds.

4.5 Establish a step-off pad at the filter cubicle entrance.

4.6 Establish an equipment laydown area adjacent to the filter cubicle access plug.

4.7 Route a D1 water hose to the filter cubicle.

4.8 Verify the selected filter has been opened to drain for at least 30 minutes prior to unbolting the head.

l 4.9 Obtain DSS pennission to change F60A&B.

DSS 5.0 PROCEDUitE I 5.1 Remove the shield plug using the PAB crane. I 5.2 Loosen three (3) turns, but do not remove the vessel closure nuts using the small extension wrench with 15/16" socket attached. Swing each nut and I bolt assembly aside, free from vessel cover.

5.3 Using the small extension wrench and the special lifting tool, lift hinged l cover out of way. l 5.4 + Suspend the yellow filter cask over the filter plug hole with gate open.
