DRAFT SER INPUT FOR V0GTLE, UNITS 1 AND 2 The purpose of this memo is to communicate our understanding of when certain of your branches are to provide draft SER input on Vogtle, Units I and 2.
Since issuance of the DSER on November 6, 1984, ASB, EHEB and CSB have provided input to a supplement to the DSER.
The applicant has not yet submitted its final Emergency Plan but plans to do so on December 1, 1984.
Based on a committment made by Dave Matthews, EPB, at a May 15,.1984, meeting to provide a DSER to DL within 6 weeks of receipt of the applicant's plan, we anticipate EPB DSER input by January 18, 1985.

__ The structural review audit is typically scheduled before the DSER;.however, for Vogtle it is not scheduled until the week of December 3,1984, at the request of the applicant. Based on discussions with George Lear, DL antigfpates receipt of DSER input incorporating the audit meeting discussions by January 18, 1985.
We need to inform the applicant as to the staff's schedule for issuing remaining DSER sections as indicated in the enclosure.
We plan to do so based on the dates in the enclosure unless we hear differently from you within one week of the date of this memo.

DRAFT SER SCHEDULE FOR V0GTLE, UNITS 1 AND 2 The draft SER input for Vogtle, Units 1 and 2 is due to the project manager
~by October 1, 1984 as indicated in the Vogtle review schedule attached to D. Eisenhut's memo _ dated November 29, 1983 (enclosed).
Reviewers should be preparing their input at this point. The issuan'ce date of the draft SER is November 1,1964, so it is imperative that the October 1 date be met.
The iiiput to tha project manager must include a vehicle for CRESS to access-

the SER material. For example, if it has been typed in CRESS include the cover sheet.
If disks or mag cards were used provide them to the PM indicating the system used and where the material is located on the disks or cards.
If an OCR font is used, the appropriate format should be used as dictated by CRESS.

SCHEDULE FOR OL REVIEW OF V0GTLE 1/2 The purpose of this semo is to advise you of the safety and environmental review schedules for Yogtle 1/2.
The Vogtle FSAR acceptance review has been completed and the application was docketed on September 16, 1583.
Although the application has been docketed, we are requesting that the review not be initiated until February 1,1984 in order that NRC resources t:111 be utilized efficiently. Accordingly, the enclosed schedule reflects a date referred to as " Initiation of Review".
The schedule for the OL review of Yogtle is included in the enclosure. All the milestones which are included in the NRC monthly report to Congress (Bevill Sub-Cessittee) are identified with an asterisk. Please provide any cther intermediate milestones which may be required in certain disciplines
.such as emergency planning, security and instrumentation and control systems.
Crnstruction of Yogtle 1/2 is'about 60% and 175 complete, respectively, and fcel load is scheduled by the applicant for September 1986.
The safety review questions should be submitted to the project manager by Apri,1 15,1984. Each question should be accompanied by a reference to the applicab:le Standard Review Plan section.
