For the past four years, the MEB has by-passed the milestone associated with the first round of questions (Q inputs to PM) and have proceeded directly to a draft Safety Evaluation i

Report which is submitted to the LPM approximately six to eight months prior to the due date for the "SER Input to PM" milestone. The draft SER documents all of our questions, unresolved issues, and staff positions which we have identified during our FSAR review.

Approximately two to three months after the applicant reviews our draft SER we conduct an extendad meeting with the applicant with the objective of resolving the majority of these issues. Approximately four months after this meeting, we submit our final SER input to the LPM.

We recommend that the following new milestones be followed for the MEB review schedule applicable to Vogtle 1/2:

1.

Draft SER input to LPM from MEB, 9/7/84 2.

Draft SER meeting and audit held at AE office with applicant week of 12/3/84 The following FSAR review milestones associated with the first round of questions to the applicant should be deleted from our review schedule:
