. Survey Questionnairo - V. C. Summer Date: 07/23/92 III. Selection of Data reeders A. How many data feeders are there (six maximum)?

i V. C. Summer Station has one (1) data feeder, the Integrated Plant Computer System (IPCS). The IPCS does the data acquistion and calculations for all of the data points. The IPCs writes a disk file once per minute containing the ERDS data points.

The IPCS is an ENCORE 32/9780 which is attached to a Digital Equipment Corp. MICROVAX 3300 computer via a proprietary data link (QLINK). The QLINK product, which consists of hardware and software produced by Science Applications Inc, allows the-ENCORE physical disk drives-to appear as " logical" disk drives to the MICROVAX. The MICROVAX is used as a communications server bett Mn the IPCS and the display stations that are used to access the IPC4 via ethernet. The MICROVAX is in the same location as the IPCS and has the same power supply.

A TEXAS MICROSYSTEMS Inc. IBM AT compatible industrial grade computer is used as a PC based interface for the ERDS system. The PC is a 20 Megahertz 80386 runr. ng a real-time multitasking executive on top of MSDOS 5.0. The software on the PC reads the one minute IPCS data file .

B. Identify the selected data feeders and provide the following for eachi (1) a short description of the catagories of data points it will provide (e.g., met, rad, or plant data points by unit) and (2) the rationale for selecting it if another system can also provide its categories of dar- points.

Only one system is providing all of the ERDS data points, the IPCS.

C. Which data feeder is the site time determining feeder? This should be the feeder which provides the majority of the data points.

Each Monitor has 8 core exit thermocouples inputs and 1 wide range-pressure input. The (maximum) temperature and the associated pressure are used to calculate each Monitor's repective subcooling value. The maximum subcooling value is represented by the condition where the pressure is at its lowest value and the core exit temp is at its highest value. The minimum calculated subcooling value is reached when the pressure is at its highest value and the core exit temperature is at its lowest value. If either subcooling calculation is invalid the otner value is used. If both sub cooling values are invalid this point is marked invalid.
