QUAD-CITIES NUCLEAR POWER STATION UNIT ONE
SUMMARY
STATUS OF FUEL PERFORMANCE i
END OF CYCLE TWELVE MAY.1993 At the end of this reporting period, Quad-Cities Unit One has completed twelve Reactor cycles of operation. During that time, 2,656 fuel assemblies had seen duty in the Unit One core.
Sipping was performed on one reload fuel assembly, LYJ449. LYJ449 was prepared as the Barrier Lead Test Assembly (BLTA) for carrying six high exposure rods from the discharged BLTA bundle LYD396. The six high exposure rods were discharged upon examination due to pitted corrosion in two of the six rods. LYJ449 was returned to its original configuration and was sipped successfully and reinserted in the core for cycle thirteen. '
No sipping was performed on the remaining reload fuel assemblies at the end of cycle twelve. This decision was based on chemical and radiochemical data collected during cycle twelve, which showed no indication of leakage or fuel failure.
For Unit One Cycle 13,152 new YJ3-GE9B (barrier clad) assemblies were visually inspected and loaded into the Unit One Reactor. ;
