Report Date: February 2,1982 Occurrence Date: January-6, 1982 Identification of Occurrence:

Core Flood Tank "B" inoperable. contrary to Technical Speci-fication 3.5.1.

Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

f Mode 1 power operations'(100%).

Description of Occurrence:

At 0230 during normal operation,-it was discovered that Core Flood Tank "B" was. inoperable due to low level. Core 4

Flood Tank "B" level decreased from 7980 gallons to 7500 gallons after filling the reference legs of the level trans--

I mitters for Core Flood Tank "B". The level transmitters were calibrated and Core Flood Tank "B" was restored to operability at 0535 on January 6, 1982.

Designation of Apparent Cause:

The cause of this event-is attributed to a loss of water in the reference legs of the level transmitters for Core Flood Tank "B".

4 Analysis of Occurrence:

'.' There was no effect upon the health or safety of the general public.

Corrective Action:

The level transmitters were calibrated and Core Flood Tank "B" j level was increased to required level. REI 81-5-43 has been initiated to replace the Core Flood Tank level transmitters.

Failure Data:

This is the first occurrence for Core Flood Tank "B" and this is the fifth report under this Specification.
