SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION REPORT NO: 50-302/82-056/03L-0 FACILITY: Crystal River Unit #3 REPORT DATE: September 24,1982 OCCURRENCE DATE: August 27,1982 IDENTIFICATION OF OCCURRENCE:

Primary containr.ient average air temperature was in excess of the 1300F limit of Technical Specification 3.6.1.5.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode I, Power Operation, (95% Full Power).

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

At 1420 during normal operation, it was discovered that the primary containment average air temperature was 1340F. Technical Specification 3.6.J.5 requires that primary containment average air temperature not exceed 1300F. Emergency air cooling units were started, and primary containment average air temperature was reduced to within limit by 1458.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE:

A pneumatic control tube ruptured causing the normal cooling units to be inoperable.

l ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

Containment temperature was reduced to within limit within the time frame required by the Action Statement of Specification 3.6.1.5. Evaluation is in progress to determine whether Specification 3.6.1.5 maintains conservatism consistent with FSAR and supporting analyses.

l CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The ruptured pneumatic control tube was replaced, and the normal cooler was returned to service.

l FAILURE DATA:

l This was the seventh occurrence to be reported against Specification 3.6.1.5.
