Biomass of fish and shellfish impinged on the intake screens  !

of Units 1, 2 and 3 exceeded the 50 kg/24hr reporting level of Section 3.1.3 of the Environmental Technical Specifications.

5. Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

Unit #1 - All water circulation pumps operational.

Unit #2 - All water circulation pumps operaticnal. .

Unit #3 - All water circulation pumps operational. i

6. Descriotion of Occurrence: ,

Ouring the period 0900 February 6,1978 to 0900 February 7,1978 v 65.04 kg of fish and shellfish were impinged on the intake screens

( of Crystal River Units 1, 2 and 3. Of the 64.05 kg impinged, Unit 3 accounted for 43.41 kg (67% of total). One ccmercially utilized species the pink shrimp accounted for 14.87 kg (23% of total). Four commercially unimportant species accounted for 30.0 kg (46% of total); silver perch 12%, scrawled cowfish 12%,

Atlantic stingray 11%, pinfish 11%. Impingement of all other comercially utilized species was less than 1 kg during the period in question. The remaining biomass impined was distri-buted among several species of fish and shellfish.
