Tennessee Valley Authority, Chattanooga, TN (Browns Ferry NL: lear Plant)

Subject:

PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF A CIVIL PENALTY - $5,000 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and a Notice of Proposed Imposition of a Civil Penalty in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars will be issued on or about June 18, 1980, to Tennessee Valley Authority.

This action is based an an alleged iten, of aonccmpliance relating to a radiation level in excess of the regulatory limit cn a transport vehicle.

A level of 600 mrem /hr was measured on the surface of the vehicle upon its arrival at the Barnwell, South Carolina waste disposal site.

A news rel23se has been prepared and will be issued about the time the licensee receives the Notices.

The State of Alabama will be notified.

It shoula be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action.

The schedule of issuance and notification is:
