SEP TOPIC III SEISMIC DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS The NRC letter of October 20, 1986, on the subject topic, requested Consumers Power Company to provide within 30 days plans and schedules for resolution of the remaining open issues presented in the letter.
We do not have a clear understanding of the NRC staff's expectations with respect to resolution of the open issues, due in part from the length of time since our last corre-spondence in April of 1984. Little attention has been given to the topic in the intervening years.
Additionally, resurrection of the topic with a 30 day response request has not allowed sufficient time to provide an adequate I response.
Discussion of the issues with members of your staff has led to a scheduled meeting on December 3, 1986 to further discuss and understand the open issues.
We believe this to be in the best interest of both parties.
We will develop and submit plans and schedules subsequent to the meeting *
