Dear Mr. Miller:

Re: ST. LUCIE UNIT I DOCKET NO. 50-335 ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION TECHNICAL EVALUATIONREPORT PROPRIETARY REVIEW In the TER transmittal letter dated April 2I, l983, the NRC requested that FPL review the pages marked in the TER as proprietary and determine if these pages still required proprietary protection. Because of the large amounts of vendor information submitted to the NRC on equipment qualification, FPL undertook a more extensive investigation to evaluate the extent of proprietary protection needed. This investigation consisted of: I) identifying the reports sent to the NRC for use in the review of equipme'nt qualification, 2) notifying the report vendors of transmittal to the NRC and requesting whether proprietary protection is needed, 3) reviewing the complete TER to determine where information was extracted or copied from a proprietary report, and 4) requesting that the vendors submit affidavits directly to the NRC in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790, to assure adequate protection of their proprietary reports.

The results of this investigation are summarized in the attached tables: Table I "Reports and Associated TER Pages Requiring Proprietary Protection" and Table 2, "Additional Reports Requiring Proprietary Protection." Table I identifies the specific pages in the TER where proprietary protection is required as a result of either copying or extracting information directly from a proprietary report. Also for the given item number, the proprietary references are listed. Upon removal of the pages identified in the table, the TER can be released to the Public Document Room. Table 2 lists the rest of the proprietary reports submitted to the NRC by FPL which still require proprietary protection:
